The Invitation – Noah’s Ark – Phase Two

Elfred in Front of Invitation may 2003 500k.jpg The painting was in motion and nearing completion.  There is a high financial risk to create art. But I believed people needed an accurate painting of Noahs ark instead of cutesy versions with giraffes and elephants sticking their heads out of flimsy reed boats.

Little cartoon paintings didn’t do justice to such a massive event in our planet’s history where all life was destroyed by thousands of volcanoes, massive tidal waves, earthquakes and storms that tore through the Earth. This worldwide graveyard of fossils needed their silent story told.

Elfred back painting invitation sepia may 2003 500k.jpgAfter receiving and watching the video update that Elfred sent I discovered that his talent knew no bounds as he effortlessly painted with a paintbrush in BOTH hands. Animals sprung to life as he captured that last moment in time before the door to life forever closed on the ancient world. Every object took on new depth of meaning and significance as Elfred shared some of the symbolism hid everywhere in the painting. Our excitement grew, realizing that this wouldn’t just be beautiful and accurate, but it had the potential to touch hearts as they saw the history of Genesis and gospel proclaimed in art.
