Well, my 500 million dollar museum had wisely morphed into a several million dollar museum but for a dream to go from thought to its physical equivalent requires more physical, financial and emotional energy than we normally imagine. Help! But, alas, many times we have to plod on alone dragging our dream kicking and screaming behind us to force it into existence. So what do you do? Do you give up? Does anyone care? Is it possible to succeed? Then you regroup and search for a new plan of attack. Struggling to make this dream even more manageable I started examining my options.

My Real Estate office is in a split commercial space. Next door there is a former retail space that has not rented successfully the last four years. It was October 2005. I had only picked up the Museum idea again about a month before and began to move forward with it. As I walked the space wondering what to do, an idea came to me. Thinking, “ John instead of raising the money for a multimillion museum to open who knows when, why don’t you open a multi thousand dollar museum now?

That moment the vacant commercial space that no one wanted became a museum. My thought from 1992 was becoming transformed to a tangible form that very day. I rang my wife, “Honey I got an idea!”

Next up: She said “gut it.” I said, “No.”
