#31 – Mythical Chupacabra Finds Home at the Lost World Museum

Reggie Lagow Aug.2005 Chupacabra copyright 2006.jpgWhere do I start on this one? It was totally unexpected. What began as a weekend getaway to a corn roast party took a U turn down a strange road that forced me to stongly consider becoming a Cryptozoologist. Let me chronicle the events as they happened beginning on Friday night September 17, 2006. The host of the annual roast, Don Austin, shared a crazy story of a wild beast, captured by his son’s friends. A local University was in the process of examining these mysterious bones. As you can imagine Don had my full attention.

Justin who is Don’s 21 yr. old son, told his Dad that 15 yr. old Geordie Decker and 16 yr. old Josh Underwood were traveling the “back 40″ with Geordie’s Dad George in their pick up. Peering over the dash all saw what appeared to be a doglike creature no bigger than a fox. Each mind was trying to register what they were seeing and would have thought nothing about the creature until they saw the way it moved slowly across the road…it hopped. Immediately the boys knew it was a chupacabra. One of the boy’s sister had shown them previously on the Internet what a Chupacabra looked like. Dad slammed on the breaks and the boys took off running after it with Josh grabbing a large blanket. 30 minutes of observing, tracking, and chasing tired the beast enough so they threw the blanket over and bagged it!

Eating pizza on the way home both boys beamed as Josh held the bundle out the window. The D.E.C. was first contacted. Excitedly they described what they saw and the Government man responded, “What you have there is a Chupacabra.” And then added, “They’re a myth.” and hung up. For most of the same day the animal was kept in the Becker’s horse trailer. Not knowing what to do next and seeing that there was no interest in their capture one of the brothers shot and killed the beast.

A week passes and the remains setting on horse manure quickly decay. Enter Justin Austin, my corn roast host’s son. He knew from his extensive hunting experience and knowledge of the area that what his friends possessed was no ordinary mammal. Scooping the remains into a plastic bin he traveled to Cornell University. Science would be given a chance to clear up this mystery.

To be continued…

Justin, Josh, and Gordie seem like a bunch of “Back 40″ Hicks. How utterly stupid they were to shoot the defensless animal that was “no bigger than a fox”. So these are the values that Gordie teaches his kids? They’ll probably grow up to be a bunch of redneck racist wife-beaters. How stupid and backwoods does somebody have to be the realize that a previously undiscovered species is worth more to study alive than dead and “decaying in manure”.
Some people absolutely amaze me at their cold-hearted and stupid mentality.
BTW, just because the animal doesn’t look exactly like anything else doesn’t mean it’s the supposedly evil chupecabra. This picture shows an animal that looks no more threatening than a young fox.

I think these people have too much free time on their hands.

    We are very proud “Rednecks”
Jus to clear one thing up. The chupacabra was put down not for fun or sick humor but because it was not well.

hows every thing goin jon? is the chupacabrah in your museum yet? and “stern” why dont you worry about your your self, and not what every body else is doing on their free time

That creature looks like a wallaby to me. As for “stern” – some people absolutely amaze me at their ability to jump to conclusions and presume somebody is guilty of “needlessly” killing a defensless animal until proven innocent when in reality, if they had been asked, the guys would have told you the creature was sickly and suffering. Before calling somebody stupid be sure it doesn’t apply to you first, or else you lose your credibility.

  6. Brittany Underwood Says:

hey stern before you going saying that people are wife beaters you should know them because my brother Josh is not a wife beater and neither is geordie and justin and the dad is george not geordie so get it right got..

i agree with brittany “stern” ..k yes it looked like a helpless fox..but it was sick….what do you want a small version of a velociraptor…and for you saying..”just because the animal doesn’t look exactly like anything else doesn’t mean it’s the supposedly evil chupecabra”…well just because you put people down and using “some what big” words which im sure to you make you feel very smart..doesn’t mean you are so keep your comments to yourself….and for you jon keep the good work up…
