Two and a half foot sea creature brought up from the ocean depths

This jointed creature’s proper name is the Bathynomus giganteus. No need to get scared, this creature, even if unfamiliar to us, is apart of the everyday scavenger life of a “bottom feeder” on the ocean floor. It’s favorite meal is whale carcass. He lives thousands of feet below the surface in an environment that seems to support giantism. The current thought is that larger cells are prone to a colder environment. Cold ocean, big creatures.  Even his scavenger companion, also a giant, the Giant Spider Crab which can grow to 12 ft. tip to tip.
