Giclee Ink-Jet Prints on Canvas
The Giclee (pronounced “gee-clay”) process is becoming more and more popular in the world of art collectors.
Where printing accurate colors true to the original, Giclees offer the highest quality in
art reproduction. The use of a Roland Ink Jet Printer, small nozzles spray pigmented ink
onto the canvas capturing the most lifelike rendition.
They are usually in limited runs and are the most desirable
among collectors where current and future value are important.
Not all Giclees processes are alike. A Giclee fine-art ink-jet print is
usually sensitive to any contact with liquid.
Technology used on your Giclees are water resistant. There is a solvent based protective coating. However,
your natural body oils (i.e. fingerprints) should not come in contact with your
print.
Important: Your canvas print is not stretched. It is important to do this before mounting. This means your canvas print will be pulled tight and fastened over a rough wood frame. Most frame shops or Galleries can provide this service before framing.
Artist Enhanced
Within any fine art edition occasionally the publisher or artist will release a limited number of prints referred to as “Artist Enhanced”. This term means that the print, once finished, goes back to the studio and the Artist adds his personal touches to the painting. Elfred Lee himself will hand paint with acrylic over the surface of the image with various color washes and highlights. This process of hand embellishments makes the artwork one of a kind, highly collectable and museum-like quality that is hard to tell apart from the original. To certify that a painting is artist enhanced Elfred Lee will sign and write “Artist Enhanced” on the back of each painting and on the Certificate of Authenticity.
